I am researching the famly of Jacos 'Jake' William Giles (b.1866 MS) who was killed 3-24-1916 in OK while he was taking a prisoner from KS to Jefferson Co. on the train. Jake was the sheriff of Jefferson Co. at the time. Jake left a wife and nine children. I find the children on the 1920 census living with an aunt who is their guardian; thus the assumption that the mother died before the date of the census which was 1-3-1920. HE was born in 1866 in MS. Does Jefferson County have a death index that would pinpoint the date of death for the mother (Estell E. Giles) - assuming of course that she just did not take off into the sunset after Jake was killed. She was born in in 1873 in MS. According to the information I have gathered they lived in Beaumont. I have not found an online cemetery record for the Beaumont cemetary. Does anyone have access to cemetery records for Jefferson county and would be willing to check on these for me. Everything I have indicates Jake was taken back to Beaumont for burial. Any informaiton appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
