South Africa, Jefferson County, Texas

My Dad's Aunt, Ettie Matthews, was born in 1902, in an oil community called South Africa, Texas. It was in Jefferson County, near Beaumont. I have been unable to locate this town on any old map or historical list of Texas Ghost Towns. If it was a temporary oil tent city or a Railroad tent city, might it be mentioned in a history book of the oil era or Railroad era?
It is on her birth certificate as South Africa, Jefferson County, Texas. Her father worked for the Sante Fe Railroad. I'm hopeing to find an old map or history or any mention of it at all. It is not found in the Texas Handbook of places. Thanks for any help. Juanita
