Thank you! I will reexamine the 1910 census, for James R. WOODS might be her son. And yes, that is my Robeson Co James ASHLEY in Co. E., 51st Regiment NC. He had settled in Huntsville,TX but returned home to NC to fight to fight the war. He was shot in the hip, leaving a ball of shot there that festered up and bothered him the rest of his life. He returned to TX abt 1872 to area around Zeidlers Mill, Gonzales Co, TX. In 1910 he was living with his daughter Alice who m. an unrelated Robert P. ASHLEY (several ASHLEY desendants live in Jackson co today.) J.R. died in Pelly (Baytown) at home of his son Stephen Berry. He switched between that location, and his other son's, George Washington ASHLEY in Dayton, Liberty Co, TX.
