James McGehee family lineage

Like all us geneaologists, I am searching for information, specifically about the above family. James and his wife Carintha A. Elder lived in Jack County in the late 1870s thru 1880. James was involed in a dispute with a Thee Pitts in Dec.1880 and was killed. Pitts was tried in Jack county in 1881 and was acquited. I have all the information regarding the trial but, little else. When James passed, five kids were orphaned and they scattered to the winds.

Also, Carintha Elder was killed, presumably in an Indian raid in 1877, the place is unknown. Any information about her would be appreciated.

The McGehee's are in the 1880 Jack Co.census and there the trail goes cold. I am trying to find where the family lived {farmed) and where James is buried. I have looked in all the obvious places; cemetery listing, etc. Several of us are researching this trajedy and have seemingly "run into walls". I simply need help locating information trails.
