I just found the story of the Indian Raid in Jacksboro in 1860. The Mary Ann Fowler in this story is more than likely to be my GG_Grandmother and would like to have more information. I found a Mary A.Fowler at age 7 1/2 months old, on the Fannin County, Tx 1850 Census and her brother Joseph Fowler age 6 then. Both were in a story in book The West Texas Frontier by Joseph Carroll McConnell. This census matches perfect for their ages when they were in the Indian raid, at age 10 yrs for Mary and age 16 yrs for Joseph, and the baby brother Hiram the Indians had taken, dont know how old he was. In this story they were also a JOHN FOWLER and didnt know who he was. This story was of THE GAGE FAMILY in the book, a CALVIN GAGE and he was step father to the FOWLER children at the time of raid. He also had children names of Polly age about 1 1/2 yrs and Johnathan age 5 yrs then. Didnt get the MRS GAGE'S maiden name or first name, but again where I found Mary and Joseph on Fannin Co 1850 was a David and Anna Fowler that sure could be parents to them as the dates also matched up, to my information and to the story. The other story was of JOHN MARY FOWLER married a ? BROWN.....In this story the JOHN BROWN had a son named JOHN BROWN and he would be perfect and date to be my MARY FOWLERS husband. He was born about 1852 and she about 1850. I think she was born in Arkansas, and think that the one BROWN Im looking for was born in VIRGINIA? not sure....but think it was on another CENSUS for MARY and this BROWNS daughter, my great grandma, ELVIRA BROWN, that father was born in VIRGINIA??? Sure could use some help on CENSUS as Im just not very good wih them or really know how to go about finding out what all you need to prove this...Im trying to prove Indian Heritage also, and today found ROLL NUMBER for JOHN CYRUS ELLIOTT born about 1879 in Texas, who is the brother in law to ELVIRA BROWN born JANUARY 12, 1871 and died NOVEMBER 24, 1945 in CARTER COUNTY, ARDMORE OK and is buried in the LAKEVIEW CEMETERY in MARIETTA, LOVE CO. OKLAHOMA .....on this it says CHICKASAW BY MARRIAGE.....
what does this mean, do you know...and how would you prove you are kin to him.

The JOHN BROWN that was also in this 1860 Indian raid would of been born about 1830-1850 I think, and had the following children in this Story....
MARY BROWN age 10 yrs...2JOHN BROWN age 8 yrs... TERENNA BROWN age 5 yrs SEAPH BROWN age 2 months and ANNIE BROWN age 1 1/2 yrs old and she married on JUNE 8, 1876 to one of the names mentioned in story, A.M. LASATER. I think she was only 16 yrs old when she married.

I know this is rather lengthy, SORRY but just want to be sure I get some more facts and seen you done the CENSUS LOOKUPS. I would appreciate your looking for them if you can.
