Here are the two listings for RUSH's in the 1900 Houston County census.
J.A. RUSH; b.1845 IA; f/b KY m/b IN; farmer
JAS. L.; son; b.1872 IN
You may be running into them not being counted or since this is transcribed edition the transcriber might have missed them, or they were living just over the county lines into another county. That is what has happened to mine so much.
I well remember Sparky Rush. When I was a child he and his wife, had a hamburger/ice cream shop across the street fron the school and everyone went there. He was a man with a great personality and I never saw anyone that didn't like him. Most especially the kids.....They had a son named Donald. He worked for the post office in Crockett and his wife did, also. She got the appointment of Postmaster at the Latexo Post Office and worked there until after Donald died. I live in Latexo. Also, Mrs. Rush's sister was a Mrs. Allbright, I think. If so, she taught school in Latexo and taught my children....
If I can help let me know. I have the Houston County cemetery books, the bride and groom books for Houston County 1882-1917 and the Pictorial History of Houston County, TX. So if you haven't looked in those, let me know.
