My Great Grandfather was Thomas Newton Mims, born in Houston County in 1868.
My Great Grandmother was Emma Mariah Tullis, born in Louisiana in 1874.

I have my Grandmother's birth certificate which shows Emma was a housewife in Farrar, Limestone County, Texas in 1894. She was married to Thomas Newton Mims who was born in 1868. I believe they were married about 1891. He died June 17, 1939 in Waco Texas and is buried there. (I have not yet recieved my copy of the death certificate).
She died in Monahans, Texas January 15, 1960.

My 80 year old mother tells me that Gread Grandmother and Great Grandpa came to texas from Alabama, but I have nothing to substantiate that. The family always said that Great Grandpa was a relative of Jesse James wife. They also always said he was a Sheriff for the State and at one time rode with the Texas Rangers after a criminal in New Mexico. He was reported to be a crack shot.

Her children were:

Effie Irene Mims Born 1894, married 1917, died Aug 23, 1992.
Terrell Newton Mims
John Russell Mims
Marjorie Loyce Mims.......died in California
Lena Mildred Mims
Lillie May Mims married to Will Dryden
Flossie Bell Mims aka Bee
Vera Gertrude Mims........lived in Waco Texas
Miles Britton Mims

If you have any information about any of these persons, I would really appreciate it. I am really just getting started and can't seem to find out any information about this branch of the family.
