Hugh and Pleasant McCall

I am a descendent of Hugh, thru my Grandmother, his youngest child.
I find him, his brother Pleasant and his Semantha on the 1860 census living, not with their parents but in different homes.
I am interested to prove or disprove the story that their parents, Hugh Matthew and Rebecca Dollarhide were murdered as one story goes...another that Hugh had gone to Ireland to settle his family estate, and for whatever reason, did not return and Rebecca & the boys were taken captive by someone....
Is there any mention of them in newspaper articles, etc, etc?
Some info that I have is Pleasant was 12 when the parents were deceased. and 13 the age on the Census!
Would truly appreciate any leads I might get, and will be happy to share what I have with others who have a common interest in them!
Mavis Hensley Sager, 2nd great granddaughter to Hugh & Rebecca Mccall
