Edd Cooper disappearance - cir 1940

I am searching for any information on the disappearance of Edd Cooper, in or about Oct. of 1940.

Edd left on a wheat harvest and was never heard from again. Foul play is suspected, but the family also suspects that maybe there might have been some criminal activity. His sister tried to find out what happened, but never did. Now everyone is dead, as this has been many years ago.

Edd was born 1883, in Red River County Texas. He was married to Maggie, and they had 2 children, a boy and a girl.
His brother Arthur Garland Cooper lived in Olton, Lamb Co., Texas at the time of Edd's disappearance.

According to the 1930 Census, Edd was living in Lubbock and by 1935 he was living at Petersburg. Some family members thought he might have been living in Levelland, Hockley Co. when he disappeared, but no conclusive evidence of this.

In 1935, Edd was a calf roping contestant at the 6th Stamford Texas Cowboy Reunion, which states his residence as Petersburg.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
