Camp Mercedes, Hildago Co., Texas
Posted by: James V. Clark Date: April 20, 2000 at 14:35:22

Recently, I was going through some pictures taken by my father in 1920 while he was in the Army. He was a 17 year old youth from Smith Co., Tennessee. I had understood him to say, many years ago, that he was in the Cavalry in Texas and was stationed in or near Brownsville. These pictures were taken in an around Mercedes and of Camp Marcedes. Does this camp still exist? What Cavalry unit was stationed there? Is there a history center in Hildago Co., that would be interested in these pictures. There is only one picture of my father; the rest are of his buddies in the Troop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
