Looking for information on George W. JOHNSTON, son of Charles S.P. JOHNSTON and Maria Paula CANTU. His father was from Scotland born about 1797 and his mother was from Mexico born abt 1822. George W. JOHNSTON (age 48) on the 1880 Hidalgo Census was listed with his wife Placida Johnson (age 32) (CANTU Villareal) who was from Mexico. Their children were Jane Peck (apparently the wife of Wm. PECK serving as a herdsman in Mitchell Co., Texas), Josephine JOHNSON, Martin JOHNSON, Geo. JOHNSON, Fred. JOHNSON, Charles JOHNSON, Virginia JOHNSON, William JOHNSON, and Eddison JOHNSON. The last child seems to have also had the name of Matias? In the census, Basilio SANCHES a servant of 15 years was listed. Geo. W. JOHNSON was a farmer and Placida's occupation was: keeps house.
