Paula, I am reading SARAH MORGAN-THE DIARY OF A SOUTHERN WOMAN and she mentions a William Pinckney, does your family have an alternate spelling of that name? The Pinckney family was from Baton Rouge area. It mentions his wife, but doesn't give a name. Perhaps relatives of your Pickney?
