Hi, Gail, recently found your post on Genforum re: William Pitt Smith, and am wondering if he is my grandfather, Whitmell Aldridge Powell and his sister Era's (Eva) stepfather.
Their mother Sarah Frances Gann, remarried after the death of their father Whitmel Powell in Cass Co. ca 1895 ? or thereabouts.I am not sure where she was living at the time, possibly Hays co. maybe in Buda, as Nathan Aldridge Gann was living there about that time.
I know little re: William, but have searched for years to find his connection to the family...the dtr of Sarah's, according to my Grandfather took her life some time after the 1900 census..where their name is listed as "Powers"..butI have not been able to find any information on Era/eva at all.
I do have pix of our Pitt's son George W. who had studied to be a minister, but never was called for a church..
Would appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely, Mavis Hensley Sager
