Looking for info on descendants of John H. “Jack” Taunton/Tanton (b. c1812, GA) and Mahala Goore/Gore (b. c1815, NC), who were married in Lowndes Co., AL in 1836. In 1850, they were in Pike Co., AL, and by 1860 they were in Hardin Co., TX, but I can’t find them either Jack or Mahala after that. They had the following children:
1. Gibson Taunton/Tanton - b. 1834, AL; d. 1905, TX; m. Mary E. ?.
2. Elizabeth Taunton - b. c1840, AL.
3. Matilia/Matitia/Matabia Taunton - b. c1841, AL; m. William Henry Whittaker, 1865, Hardin Co., TX.
4. John Taunton/Tanton - b. c1844, AL.
5. Jasper Taunton/Tanton - b. 1849, AL; d. 1912, Hardin Co., TX; m. Ellen Harvill/Harvell, 1870, Hardin Co., TX.
6. Charles Taunton/Tanton - b. 1857, TX; d. 1916, Hardin Co., TX; m. Senia Ann Aurora Hester, 1886, Hardin Co., TX.
I’d love to hear from anyone who recognizes any of these individuals.
