Even though all TX deaths were supposed to be reported beginning in 1903, the law was not heavily enforced until about 1930. Some may have never been reported to anyone while others may be only in an old courthouse book. If you have not found her as yet, you can use the Texas Archives system. Your local library can order films or microfiche for you to view in you library. Your library should know how to order for you.
Texas has regional archives, so Hamilton Co. records are held at Baylor University in Waco, TX. According to my old Texas handbook, for Hamilton Co., 1903-1941 deaths are indexed on two films: A-R on Reel 143-4095 and R-Z on Reel
143-4096. The deaths records are also on 143-4096. Order both films at the same time. If I remember correctly you may keep the films for about 2 weeks, but if needed, your librarian can ask for an extension.
The program was still being organized when my old book was printed, so no information on which archives Mills Co. would be in, but your librarian could easily obtain them without having any film numbers. If you don't find in either county, you might also try Comanche Co. as Indian Gap is only a few miles from there also.
Did you mean there was no tombstone for her or no mention of her in the cemetery records? If you meant tombstone, then any funeral home in any of the above counties can tell you who they contact for burials in Indian Gap and that person should have a record of the burials.
Good luck.
