Looking for information on Philip T. Graves, (b.1815 MO - - d. 1873, Clark Co., AR). Parents of Philip were John Clark Graves (b.1795 KY -- d. 1837 AR) and Mary Smith (b. 1795/1805 -- d. after 1882). Philip T. m. Feb 1837 to Louisa D. Stephens (b. 1821 TN -- d. 1853 AR). I list Louisa as dau of Allen Stephens (b. 1795 and d. 1824 Wake Co., NC) and Sarah Spain (??-??). I list 6 children for Philip T. and Louisa. According to my information they named one of their children Philip T. Graves also. Don’t know if he is a “Jr.” or not. He was b. 1845, but have nothing further on him. Since children before and after him were born in Hempstead Co., AR, I assume he was too. Philip T. Graves then m. Nancy O. Harris on 13 Jan 1853 in Hempstead Co., AR. Nancy, (b. 1837 -- d. abt.1858/59)... I don’t know who her parents or siblings were. I list 3 children for Nancy and Philip T. Philip T. then, on 18 Jan 1860, m. Levina McCargo (b. 1835 -- ??). I list 3 children for Levina and Philip T. I don’t know who parents or siblings are for Levina. I have the information that Philip T. may have married a 4th time, after 1870, to Martha June Unknown (1849 -- ??), but I’m not sure it’s authentic. The Graves Org. has apparently questioned this marriage, but who knows? The Graves org. apparently states he may have never married Martha June ______.. I don’t have any children listed for Martha June ______ and Philip T. The wife of John Clark Graves was Mary Smith.. She was dau of George W. Smith Jr. (b. 1770/80 -- d. bef 01 Oct 1839) and Mary “Polly” Fulkerson (b. 1776 Somerset Co., NJ -- d. 1845 St. Louis, MO). I only have one more generation back on the Smith side, but there are quite a number of ancestors available for Mary “Polly” Fulkerson. I’m trying to locate a William L. Graves and tie him into the John Clark Graves group. While John Clark married a dau. of George W. Smith, Jr., my William L. Graves m. a grand daughter of the same George W. Smith Jr. They both (John Clark and William L.) had property in Hempstead Co., AR. William L. Graves is my great grandfather, but I know little about him. He apparently died about the time of the Civil War and his wife, Mary Ann Kelso, had a daughter, Susen Alice Graves, in 1864 in Fannin Co., TX. On census for 1870, Susen (and her brother Charles Graves) are found living with Andrew Jackson Kelso (younger brother of their mother) in Hamilton Co., TX. I can’t find any trace of mother. She may have died as result of childbirth. Susen Alice Graves was m. on 14 May 1881 to William Hawkins Bell in Hamilton Co., TX. (I have the original marriage Certificate) I will appreciate any information whatsoever on any of the names I’ve listed, especially William L. Graves. I think he may have been born in MO, as he was married to Mary Ann Kelso on 25 Aug 1852 in Jefferson Co., MO. and she was b. 1830 in St. Louis Co., MO.. If you think what I have will help you, I’ll be glad to share it, just let me know J. C. Bell Notify Administrator about this message?
