I have a great grandmother Elizabeth Line Daniel, born of a Union Scout in 1852, with one sister Nancy and baby brother Henry born around the beginning of the Civil War. Their father was gone and mother died. Elizabeth was the oldest and she travel around the states with her little sister and baby brother with a milk cow looking for work, food, shelter and their father. Elizabeth would leave the children and cow with a famiy while she worked or looked for work. When she returned from work once Nancy begged her not to leave them again with this family as they were fed with the dogs. This family or another they left in middle of the night, after hearing the family plotting to kill them and keep the cow. My sister and I have posted this story so many times in the last three years, but the only thing is someone said they heard a similiar story while doing their Daniel line out of Harlan County, KY. It is possible they traveled through KY, as she was born in 1852 in Tenn and marrie din Murry Co., GA in 1868, she was 15 when she married. What happened to her brother and sister is unknown to me, my sister and mother. Elizabeth had her children in Ala, 11 born to her husband and her Mathew Strickland Connally, Sr. My grandmother, her youngest daughter was born in 1890. She one more child, a son born in 1895. She died in Texas and is buried in McLennan County. She died in July, 1922, in Hamilton County, possibly outside Hico at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, John Corneluis and Gertrude Connally Isbell. If we can connect or you know anything please contact me, Janelle C. Bates at or my sister at Please attach to both, or just reply here. We are desparate to find her family as we feel a connection beyond this life to her. Thank you for listening again. Janelle Bates
