Hello Revis,
We share commom ancesters. My ggg.grandmother was Irena Miers who married Warnell Polk in 1852 Caldwell Co., Tx.
Warnell is buried in the OLD Praire lea Cememtery; not the Prarie Lea Cemetery.
According to my grandmother, her grandmother, Clara Virgnia Polk Smith (daughter of Irena Miers Polk [McElroy]) and Warnell Polk, told her that her mother, Irena as well as her grandmother, Nancy Clowers Miers Wright, are both buried im the OLD Praire Lea Cemetery where Warnell is buried. But, neither have tombstones.
Also buried in Old Praire Lea cCemetery is "Earl Polk"- this is actually "Earl Polk Smith"; 12 year old son of Charles Phillip and Clara Virginia Polk Smith. I have assumed this is correct, with the thought that a person would know where her mother is buried.
I do not know about the access to Brushy Creek Cemetery.
There is also another cemetery in the Barrowdale area that is not indexed. It is on private property with the first known burial in 1844. A daughter of Josiah Cartwright who fought in the Tx. Rev. Also buried there are Fulsher family who also fought in Tx. Rev.
In any case, a descendant has promised to take me to the cemetery this spring, and allow me to index it and take pictures. It may hold some answers for the many people who are searching in the area. I will let you know when the index is complete.
