There are 3 men named Charles M. Walker on the Soldiers and Sailors Civil War site.

Walker, Charles M.
Regiment Name:1st Regiment, Texas Cavalry (Yager's) (1st Mounted Rifles)
Side:Confederate

Walker, Charles M.
Regiment Name:3rd Battalion, Texas Cavalry (3rd Battalion Mounted Rifles)
Side:Confederate

Walker, Charles M.
Regiment Name:29th Regiment, Texas Cavalry (DeMorse's) Side:Confederate

You might post a query on the Civil War Forum, some of those people are sharp about CW information. Maybe they can tell you how you can find if any of these men died.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/ -- Under general information, click on Wars, then click on Civil War. Post the above information and ask if anyone can help you narrow down which one, or ones, may have died prior to 1865 when his wife remarried. Or where these men may have enlisted, that might narrow down your search, also.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
