Hello Pat, I am trying to verify the daughter of Wesley Stone mentioned in History of Judson School District. -------- http://www.lisd.org/lhs/LHSHIST/judson.htm (Longview High School site) History of Judson School District In 1870, Mr. Wesley Stone gave each of his three daughters enough money to buy 1,000 acres of land if they would move their families west. The three sisters, Mrs. Hiram (Georgia Stone) Whatley, Mrs. Ann Renfro, and Mrs. Ellen McGrede moved their families to East Texas from Eufala, Alabama ----------- 1860 Hilliardsville, Henry County, Alabama Page: 122B & 123A, Line: 38 831 / 830 Wesley Stone 44 M <abt 1816> Farmer 13000 / 37,100 South Carolina Ellen 37 F<abt 1823> Georgia Columbus W 18 M <abt 1842> Alabama John M 18 M <abt 1842> Alabama Georgia Ann F 16 F <abt 1844> Alabama Ann E 14 F <abt 1846> Alabama Alexander 12 M <abt 1848> Alabama Marshal 10 M <abt 1850> Alabama Ellen L 8 F <abt 1852> Alabama Malinda 6 F <abt 1854> Alabama -------------- Two of the three sisters mentioned in History of Judson School District - Georgia (Stone) Whatley, Ann (Stone)Renfro - married in Henry County, Alabama and were listed in that county when the 1870 census was taken. They were in Gregg county, Texas for the 1880 census. I am stumpted by Mrs. Ellen McGrede who was mentioned mentioned in History of Judson School District. I have not found a marriage for Ellen Stone to a McGrede. The Ellen McGrede who lived in Upshur county in 1870 appears to be much older than Wesley Stone's daughter.
