Connie, I am seeking information on my great grandparents. My ggrandfather was Cornelius Smith, supposedly born in Alabama about 1850. According to the 1880 Arkansas census his father was born in Alabama and his mother in Georgia. He was reared by a man named (McInnis, McEnnis, or McGinnis). I don't know if he was an orphan or not. He married Mary Ellen McElhose who I believe was living in Grayson County around the time of her marriage. They were living in Fannin County in 1870 so they must have married quite young. Mary Ellen was the daughter of Stafford Smith McElhose and she was born in Illinois. Do you know of any connection with your McGinnis and these people? Thanks
