Did you try Wilbarger Co, or the state archives in Austin, for his DC? If it was Wilbarger, you might try Austin. I have a DC for an ancestor that was located in Austin, and is not in Uvalde Co, the county of his death. Go figure!! I was in the courthouse, and the lady looked and looked, it was not there. But, copy of a copy I had from a distant cousin said "State of Texas" on the bottom. I was going to get a clearer copy at the courthouse. How Austin received the info, and the county did not, is beyond me.
