Morris/Phillips/Copeland (Howe area?

  of 1676

I am hunting for my Morris family and have very little to work with.

Josephine Burgess married William M. Morris sometime around 1866 (probably in MO) - by 1872/3 they were in Grayson County. The family was enumerated in 1880 in Grayson County. By 1884/86, they were in Indian Territory where one child died and the ancestor I'm tracing, Bert Willis Morris was born.

By 1891, William M. Morris had probably died -- most likely in Grayson County. Josephine may have lived in the Howe area as in 1897, Jane Morris married Sam H. Phillips.

In 1900, Josephine was enumerated as a widow renting her farm and had her youngest son, Bert with her and Albert Bentle as a boarder and Lena Copeland, a niece, age 9, living with her.

Known children of Josephine and William:
Albert L. Morris
Sylvester M. Morris
Jonathan Marvin Morris
Charles Marion Morris (died as a child)
John Henry Morris
Jane Morris
Bert Willis Morris

Albert is known to have been on the Cherokee strip run and from Van Alstyne.

Cheryl
