This is not my family, but my husband was third generation born in Grayson Co, TX, so I have a little on the county -- You mentioned a book on Grayson Co, TX, you should include title of books when you're using them for sources. I just happen to have a copy of "An Illustrated History of Grayson County Texas", and it shows H.S. Reynolds with son named William G. I believe that is yours, but 1860 census made apparently made an error on name for H.S, probably should have been A. S., as you'll see from following records. 1850 census Taylor Co, KY: Reynolds, Alman, 39, b KY - land 1200 " Ermine, 33, b KY " Charles D., 12, b KY " M.E., 8, b KY (female) " E. (L. ?), 6, b KY (fem) " Jno A., 3, b KY " Wm, 3/12, b KY Four youngest on this record match four youngest on 1860 census for Grayson Co, TX; and Charles D. is probably Dawson on 1850 census. Next door on 1850 census, born VA, probably father of Alman: Reynolds, Charles, 69, b VA - land 5,052 1870 census Grayson Co, TX, named spelled Olman, age 60, b KY land 2000/personal 300 and living with married daughter Elizabeth, her husband and one child. TX Dth Idx thru 1976, not only name of his father, but his mother, also: name: William G. Reynolds death date: 08 Jan 1919 death place: Denison, Texas gender: Male race: White death age: 68 years 6 months 29 days estimated birth date: birth date: 09 Jun 1850 birthplace: Ky marital status: Married spouse's name: father's name: Almond Reynolds father's birthplace: Ky. mother's name: Irma Steele mother's birthplace: Ky. occupation: Minister place of residence: Denison, Texas cemetery: Fairview burial place: Texas burial date: 10 Jan 1919 additional relatives: film number: 2073524 digital film number: 4167718 image number: 2714 reference number: 2395 I checked Rootsweb's WorldConnect site -- http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- and used less common name but one I did't think would get spelled too many ways -- Dawson -- and entered Reynolds, Dawson, born Kentucky. Up comes a match. Then you can click on his father and the submitter has more on the family. You might want to contact them, find our sources for their material and share what you have.
