Fred Davis helped many researchers, especially with Grayson County, Texas research. He gleaned material from the Sherman Public Library and went the extra mile to find what he could that might help us. He will be missed by one and all.
Fred Warren Davis Jr.
SHERMAN ó Graveside services for Fred Warren Davis, Jr. will held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 26 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Howard Davis, Fredís brother will officiate. Mr. Davis passed away Saturday, December 23 at his home in Luella at the age of 69. Fred was born on March 17, 1937 in Galveston, Texas to the late Fred and Bonnie (Thomas) Davis, Sr. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy, serving as a PNC for 22 years and retiring in 1978. After his retirement, Mr. Davis worked in civil service in Dallas, Albuquerque, and Oklahoma City. He served 2 ten-year tours before retiring for the last time. Fred married Marjorie Lineberry on December 11, 1981 in Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Marjorie; two daughters, Debra Davis of Sherman and Diana Koah of Hugo, Oklahoma; one son, Fred Davis, III and his wife Tammy of San Antonio, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 4 brothers. He was preceded in death by a son, David Howard Davis in 1979.
