Looks like "all" the children are going by Belden in 1870.

1870 census Lamar Co, TX:

Mayfield, W.E.C., 47, b TN - land 1500/personal 300
" E.C., 46, b TN
" Wm. S., 25, b TN - no land/personal 150
" M.A., 19, b TX (female)
Belden, Ellen, 12, b TX
" Lewis, 11, b MO
" Jno., 9, b MO
" Mary, 7, b TX
[1860 Mayfield family is in Nacogdoches Co, TX]

1880 census Lamar Co, TX, looks like John and one sister are stil there:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

Josiah A. MCHAM Self M Male W 22 TX Farmer LA TX
Minnie MCHAM Wife M Female W 15 TX Keeping House OH OH
John GLEESON Other S Male W 19 TX Laborers OH OH
James CAMPBELL Other S Male W 20 TX Farmer IL IL

Looks like John's sister Mary/Minnie is the wife in this household.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
