The Sansom family moved from Tennessee to Texas -- Samuel D. and Elizabeth (Lackey) Sansom moving there about 1842. They stayed for a while at a place near the Atoyac River. In 1850, femily members lived in Polk and Tyler Counties. While I have not seen the census records, others have told me that J. W. Sansom's family had moved to Gonzales County by 1860.

The only record I have for the May family is Albert's marriage to Martha Sansom. The notes which I have in FTM for the marriage are:

MARRIAGE: Gonzales Co., TX marriage license #753 Book A Page 173; rites solemnized by Albert G. May, Minister Gospel
