Any information on:

The Clewis family migrated from NC to Gonzales Co. TX between 1870 and 1875.

Augustus Clewis family. Augustus was born about 1840 in NC (probably Robeson Co.). He married Mary Varnum, b. abt 1848 in Robeson Co. NC, daughter of Spier/Mike Varnum and wife Mary.

Augustus and Mary had five children that I know of. On the 1880 Gonzales Co. TX census they were: William H. (age 13), Molly J. (age 11), Fanny E. (age 5), Susan (age 2), Richard D. (age 1 month). Our line is through Fanny E.

I would like to know anything about the Clewis family prior to coming to Gonzales Co. TX or after. Surely there are descendants of William H., Molly J., Susan, or Richard D. Some hopefully have knowledge of the family and any help would be appreciated.
