I think that the migration From N.C.to Ga, and then toTx.was probably due to better land -I know that Our N.C. did not inherit the bulk of their fathersa land -So needed land for their families-then whaen the news of the greener pastures in Tx. The call had responses again ! The guadalupe river ares around Dewitt Na dGonzales co. was a lovely land in thoses days and when the Indians were less a treat the land was appealing to the families too. --My heart sytill remembers the lovely times spent in Leesville with My Grandfather and Grandmother Downs ( During the summers)-It always gladdened the soul1 -I note that many of the same Names went from Halifax Co. N.C. To Ga, and then some seem also to have made the Tx. Treck--Keep me posted -(I will look for any of your names when I do N.C. Genealogy work)--Thanks again!-Llewellyn
