Wow! How exciting! Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. The records I searched were these huge books with handwritten entries in may cases. These were indexes for births, deaths and marriages. Yes, there was a Tiburcio Vasquez birth for November 15, 1905 in the index at the Goliad County courthouse in Bk 1 Pg 141. Further along was another entry for Tiburcio Vasquez for the same date in Bk D-2 Pg 391 (maybe a delayed entry) with the following information with it: Father Santos Vasquez from Brownsville Mother Isabel Sierra. In another list was Tiburcio Vasquez same date in Bk D-4 and Pg 145.
Did he have any brothers? There are two entries that follow immediately after Tiburcio in the first index I looked in: Martene Vasquez born March 6, 1906 in Bk 1 Pg 141 and Andres Vasquez born August 20, 1907 same Bk 1 Pg 141. Of course, Martene would not have been his brother since it was within a 9-month period, but what about Andres?
Anyway, there another Santos Vasquez born November 12, 1947 Bk 6 Pg 369.
I pencil noted other names and dates if you are interested I can mail them to you.
Let me tell you that I am interested in Tiburcio because my great-grandfather, Refugio Vasquez married my great-grandmother there in Brownsville in 1894. She was from Brownsville and we have not verified if he was from Mexico or as some in the family had been told, he was from Spain.
Supposedly, Refugio had a younger brother named Juan who also lived there in Goliad. Also, there are old cemeteries in the more outlying areas such as Charco and Weesatche that bear looking at. I have visited one in Charco and I came across a headstone for Maria Carmen Vasquez born in Matamoros, Mex. , November 26, 1861. Died in Charco, June 10, 1924. I took a picture of it as well.
I hope that has given you some more information you can use.
Let me know if you got the e-mail or if I can be of further assistance.
