Thank you for sharing this information. I will have to dig into this further. The earliest I found my Thomas J Gardner was 1840 in Twiggs Co. GA Census. I could not find a marriage event for him in that county so I am sure he came from some other county. Have not found his marriage record as yet.

Between 1845 and 1868, my Thomas J Gardner was a practicing baptist minister in Butler Co., AL.

I found where a Thomas J Gardner witnessed a land sale in 1833 Jones Co., GA. I am not sure which one that would be.

My Thomas J Gardner had children, most only known by initials right now. I have been unable to find any record of any of his children except my direct ancestor, Robert Warren Gardner, his son.
He had the following Children:
D. E. Gardner Female born 1837 GA
L. H. Gardner Female born 1840 GA
N. L. Gardner Female born 1841 GA
H. M. Gardner Female born 1846 Butler Co., AL
L. M. Gardner Female born 1848 Butler Co., AL
Robert Warren Gardner Male born 1850 Butler Co., AL
M. L. (possibly Matthew) Gardner Male born 1855 Butler, AL

I continue my search. Thanks for the new insight.
K A Taylor
