Tirza was likely named for Tirzah [McCown] Birdwell, wife of Thomas G. Birdwell of Walker Co. TX, and daughter of Sampson McCown of Chester SC and Tuscaloosa AL.
Tirzah is a biblical name --- a capitol city of several kings of the Israelites. Considering all the misspellings by Census enumerators, they must not have been students of the Bible.
