This might be a lead for you but nothing very specific. About all I can do is scatter around a few names from imperfect memory.

Yes, there were Straits in Pearsall and also in the Dilley area as late as the 1950s. In the early 1950s, Frank Coyne (whose sister married a McGee) was left a widower and Mrs. [?] Strait was widowed--both with young children. They married and combined households. A few years thereafter they moved to Devine TX (on I-35 south of San Antonio).

I believe George Strait, the C&W musician, was a first cousin to the children of the widow whose given name I cannot recall, and certainly was reared in Pearsall, Frio TX. George raised his family east of San Marcos (Hays County TX)--Staples area, I believe--where he lost his daughter to an auto accident.

Candidly, you could probably pick anyone out of the phone book for Staples, TX, and ask them and they'd know where some Straits currently reside.

Or if you can locate Teddy Moffett, who grew up around Dilley TX, he would know. He worked for many years for George Strait.
