Yes, it does help! I'm pretty sure J.D. and S.J. Mathews are my relatives. Guess there just wasn't enough room on those old tombstones to carve the full names, or maybe it cost too much!

Did you by chance see any reference to Martha Caroline Piercey ?(her maiden name was Mathews) I think that she died between 1900 and 1915 and since she lived in Freestone County, it's likely that she was buried there.
