Services for Bessie Starkey, 99, of Flomot will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the Lockney First Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Mulder officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Monday, May 17, 2004 at Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney.
She was born January 27, 1905 in Hico to John and Della Homer Malone. She married C.W. Starkey on December 26, 1921 in Floydada. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1989. She was a member was a member of the Flomot Baptist Church and a homemaker. She moved to Flomot in 1946 from Cedar Hill and lived in Olton from 1924 to 1936.
She is preceded in death by a daughter; Viola Starkey in 1936 four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include; four sons; Johnny, of Flomot, Jackie and his wife Nada of Flomot, Dean and his wife Bobbie of Amarillo, L.T. and his wife Roddie Lee of Ralls, seven daughters; Marjorie Cypert and husband Homer of Lockney, Nola Long of Wynnewood, OK, Lola Jewell Starkey of Clyde, Bobbie Hanna and her husband Royce of Warner, OK, Sandra George and her husband Kenneth of Webbers Falls, OK, Ersie Vancleve and her husband Bill of Floydada, Phyllis Gladson and husband Roy of Austin; a brother, Curtis Malone of Diton, CO; two sisters, Nadine Weaver of Olton and Jomita McLain of Hart; 33 grandchildren; 70 great- grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
