Could someone reading this message board tell me what newspaper may have covered Fisher County between 6-1902 and 1-1903? Is the newspaper located in Fisher County? Would the local library have it on microfilm for that period of time?
I'm not familiar with that part of TX, but have a family that was tried for murder out of Fisher County (having been transferred to Fisher County from Haskell County).
The last name of the person is CASNER. John Casner, the father, and John Lewis/Luke/Lou/Lew Casner, the son, were both tried for murder, convicted, appealed and won the appeal (meaning they did not go to prison).
The last official record I find of them is in 6-1902 when they sell the last of their range land in TX and the family then moves on to New Mexixo.
They are said to have died in 1-1903. I have searched the TX death records on microfilm and find no record of them. I have searched courthouse records in that area of the state a few years back and did not find them in the county records. Unfortunately, I did not look in Fisher County.
My question is this:
(1) Would someone be willing to check the death index at the Fisher County Courthouse to see if they are listed?
(2) Would someone be willing to check the microfilm of hte local newspaper between from 6-1902 thru 1-1903 and see if there is any mention of their deaths. It seems odd that both died about the same time. I am endeavoring to find evidence of their place/dates of death.
