Hi all you TX Templeton cousins out there. Would like to find male descendant(s) of Thomas Witcason Templeton (1806-aft 1860). Thomas was the youngest son of Thomas C. Templeton (c1765-c1810) wth two brothers, Amos (1795-1844) & James M. (1800-1880). Thos W. & brother James M. migrated to Cedar Co, MO in the late 1850s & then on to Grayson Co, TX abt 1864. If you're descended from Amos Patton Templeton, Sr. (1847-1917) then you're descended from Thos Witcason. Amos Patton was in Grayson Co. at least until 1900 when he's in the 1900 census. He was buried @ the VA. Point Cemetary which I think is just across the county line in Fannin Co.
Would like to find direct male descendant(s) of Amos P. willing to take a YDNA test as part of our Scott Co, VA Templeton Family History study. So far I've got DNA results from descendants of 2 of Thos C's 3 sons (one from one of the two TX clans & one from the Scott Co, VA clan) I'd sure like to add test results from a descendant of that 2nd TX clan.
So far our paper trail & YDNA tests tie the TX Templetons back to Scotland via Scott Co, VA, Iredell Co, NC, Pittsylvania Co, VA & tidewater VA.
Hoping to have more good news to share at the Templeton Family Reunion in Manville, Scott Co, VA this summer. Come on & help me firm up the TX Templeton roots. (Tests only consist of using an oversized Q-tip to swab inner cheek) If interested contact me @ jacktempleton27@me.com.
