MARTIN Genealogy

This is a long shot, I know -- my grandparents, Elisha Austin & Florence (CARVER) MARTIN lived on Hwy. 67 in Chalk Mountain. I have been searching in vain for records of birth, records of marriage, and records of death for his parents, William M. & Caroline "Callie" MARTIN, who are listed in the 1880, 1900, & 1910 Census for Somervell County, Pct. 2, Dist. 147. Reportedly, William was born 1830 in Henry County, TN, served in the CSA 5th TN Infantry Regiment, and migrated to TX, appearing in the 1870 TX Census for Bosque County, enumerated with William GLASS, Mary Jane LaFON, and James RIDGEWAY. One Census records his father and mother as being born in VA (when and where unknown). There is speculation that a sister might have been Margarette MARTIN, who married Frederick LaFON. Caroline was born 1841 in MS (county not known). One Census records her father and mother as being born in GA (when and where unknown). We do not know Caroline's maiden name: the DC of son, John Quincy, references MEADOWS; the DC of daughter, Beulah FAGALA, references HENDERSON. Headstone in Nancy Smith Cemetery is inscribed "Caroline Pelepin"; the DC of son, William Thomas, references "Caroline Penelope". It is believed, too, that William was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Castle Hall, Glen Rose Lodge #168. No documentation to "connect-the-dots"...
