I found some more info. on Archie. On 8/12/1867 he registered in Erath Co., TX Voter Registration. He lived in Precinct 2, and had been in the State of Texas and County of Erath for 17 years, in Precinct 2 for 10 years, and was born in AL. Precinct 2 was Pony Creek area.

In 1870 census he lived at Duffau Creek. His neighbor was William M. Gillentine, son of Capt. Nicholas Gillentine, killed at Battle of Dove Creek.

1870 Census:
103-117; Keahey, Archer 24 male white born Tenn. farmer
Martha E. 26 female white b. MS
Geo. Reed 3 male TX
James Thomas 2 TX
John W 6/12 TX
Nrs, Nartha 50 female white TX

On reflection, the grave site I saw might have been the grave site of Archie's father and husband of Martha, age 50. However, while I was doing research in Erath Co I remember that the Rumph's said that the Keahey's were friends of the Gillentine's, so Archie might be buried there after all.

As I wrote earlier, the gravesite is across the highway from Pony Creek Baptist Church. Silas Taylor Evans was the pastor during the 1850's - 1880's. He married Rebecca Vashy Colbert, daughter of my 2nd Ggreatfather, Ira Colbert.
After Ira's first wife died he married Jemima Templeton and raised her children. Her first husband was Robert Templeton and they had five or six children, all born in Tippah Co., MS.

The grave was located at the Beach Cemetery, located on the farm of Mrs. Ruby Rumph, north of Johnsville, TX. Mrs. Rumph said the Gillentine family settled on this land in 1861. The cemetery is in the pasture south of the house.

If I remember correcctly, Keahey's grave is approx. 50 feet from grave of Capt. Nicholas Gillentine and Rebecca Jane Colbert Beach. Rebecca Jane was daughter of Silas Taylor Evans and Rebecca Vashty Colbert Evans. Rebecca Jane's husband was Oliver Gillentine Beach, son of Benjamin Franklin Beach.

The Gillentine family was related to the Colbert, Beach, Allard, Evans, and Cox families in Erath Co.
