R G Sands
Military Service
1st Regiment, Texas Infantry
Company E
Source: U. S. Civil War Soldiers Index,

I didn't find his death info but I found possibly another marriage.

R G Sands
Married: 11 Oct 1881, Navarro Co., TX
Susan A. Stovall
Source: Texas Marriages 1837-1973,

I looked through the cemetery indexes and obituaries that are online but didn't find any record of a Sands death. Not all of the cemeteries are indexed and not all of the indexes are complete either.

The Ellis County Genealogical Society, might have more info.

The Ellis County Clerk, might have death records.

I saw the 1880 Ellis Co. Census. Lillie couldn't have been R G's child since he and Mary were married in 1866. She could have been Mr. Gibbon's child and been listed with the Sands surname.

Also I've seen Census records with a spouse marked as a Widow when in fact the person was divorced. Successful Searching!
