Hi,

Event: Military Service
Year: 1862
First Infantry
Confederate Soldier

R G Sands
Military Service
Private
Confederate
Texas
1st Regiment, Texas Infantry
Company E

I didn't find his death info but I found possibly another marriage.

R G Sands
Married: 11 Oct 1881, Navarro Co., TX
Susan A. Stovall

I looked through the cemetery indexes and obituaries that are online but didn't find any record of a Sands death. Not all of the cemeteries are indexed and not all of the indexes are complete either.

The Ellis County Genealogical Society, www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txellis/esoc.htm might have more info.

The Ellis County Clerk, www.co.ellis.tx.us/index.aspx?nid=74 might have death records.

I saw the 1880 Ellis Co. Census. Lillie couldn't have been R G's child since he and Mary were married in 1866. She could have been Mr. Gibbon's child and been listed with the Sands surname.

Also I've seen Census records with a spouse marked as a Widow when in fact the person was divorced. Successful Searching!
