OK, you said Winston and Mary were on the 1880 census, but you didn't give the information, such as where parents born etc. So I went looking.

Winston's father was born in TN, so went back to the 1860 census for AL, first one after Winston was born there.

1860 census Blount Co, AL:

Wade, I.H., 46, b TN - land 3000/1885
" Annie, 42, b Indiana
" Greenberry, 18, b AL
" Eliza, 17, b AL
" Nancy J., 15, b AL
" James P., 13, b AL
" Alabama, 10, b AL
" William, 9, b AL
" Winston, 6, b AL

Go to USGenWeb site -- http://usgenweb.org/ -- Click on Alabama, choose Blount Co, and scroll down to the bottom of the page, type in Waid and up comes several matches, including original land owner plat maps for Isaac etc. The name is spelled Waid on some early records.

Go to Rootsweb's WorldConnect site -- http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- Type in Wade, Winston, born 1854 + or - five years. First submitter matches your man and takes the line back some more. I.H. is Isaac Hamilton Wade and so on.

Texas didn't begin officially recording vital records until 1903, and some counties didn't get on board for some time, so early deaths are not always recorded.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
