Well, the old church building that was used as a school, too, is still standing. As a matter of fact, my father, John Foster (Buddy) Honeycutt had his funeral there about 8 or so years ago. He is buried in the Carta Valley cemetery that is on the road that goes back behind the store. My aunt, Elizabeth (Lizzie Honeycutt) Newman's family still resides on the property next to where it's located. She passed away yesterday morning in a nursing home in Del Rio. and they are having her funeral at the cemetery tomorrow.

This past Easter I went out to Carta Valley to visit with my aunt and her family - the bluebonnets were just beautiful in the yard of the church/school grounds.

Would love to hear from you - especially if you can share some of the history of this area.
