Margaret W. (BROOKS) and Richard RICKARD
Posted by: Cheryl Dedrickson (ID *****9322) Date: June 21, 2002 at 13:07:10

I'm seeking information re: the parents and siblings of my gr gr grandmother, Margaret W. (BROOKS) RICKARD. Originally, I was told her middle name was "Winnie." However, an old photo I recently saw had her middle name as "Woodward." Have reason to believe part of her Brooks family also migrated to TX. Census indicates her father was b. South Carolina and mother in GA.

She was b. abt. 1836 in GA. Married Richard RICKARD on 15 Jan 1855 at Randolph County, AL. She died 28 Jul 1907 at Breckenridge, Stephens county, TX and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Eastland, TX.

Richard RICKARD was b. abt 1827 in England. Came to the US in 1852. He served in the CSA and was at least partially blinded. He and Margaret removed from AL to TX in 1876.
He was a Methodist minister. He died 8 Mar 1892 and is buried at Cisco in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Sons:
Augustus R. "Gus" RICKARD b. 1853, AL. Married M. L. McCLINNEY 5 nOV 1855.

William RICKARD b. Jan 1856 and died 15 Jun 1857.

Joseph Albert RICKARD b. 22 Oct 1857 Ducktown, Polk, TN.
Married Georgian Flannigan DUKE 6 Mar 1879 in Eastland Co.
Joseph d. 29 apr 1935 andis buried at Aledo, Parker, TX.
These are my gr grandparents and can share MUCH on their descendants.

William J. RICKARD b. 1860 in AL. Married Sallie R. PATTON 12 May 1897.

Any help on BROOKS family or descendants of Margaret and Richard RICKARD would be appreciated.
