Thanks for the information. I lived in Ranger once for several years, when I managed the old Duke & Ayres 5 & 10 store. But I never went to the Cemetery once. I never knew about my great grandfather then. It was much later when I took up the family genealogy that I found him. There is nothing about his birth, except on every census from 1850 to 1880 he stated he and his parents were born in Connecticut, he was born 1830 there but first shows up on the census in Mississippi in 1850 working for the railroad. I have his Confederate Civil War record, he went to Missouri after the war and after my grandfather was born he moved to Texas where my father was born. My great grandmother died at the time he was 30. Then he went to work for the T&P railroad. And after 1880 there is no record of him. Someone told his son, my Uncle Billy, that he had died working as a mechanic on a trip to West Texas and the railroad buried him near where he died. Thanks for your reply.
