In The Handbook of Texas Vol. 1 page 278 states that there was two U S Army camps named Camp Bowie. First established at Fort Worth during the World War I. The second, located at Brownwood in September, 1940.

I have never heard of a Camp Bowie in Eastland Co., Texas. Good luck with your search.
