I would like to share my findings with you:
1860 US Census Refugio County, page 13 dated June 23, 1860
Fam 149
Doughty, J. M. age 35, farmer, born Alabama
Doughty, Emily A. age 31, Keeping house, born SC
, Liddie M. age 9 born Miss
, Andrew P. age 7 born Miss(in 1880 enumerated in GoliadCo)
, Martha E. age 5 born in Miss
, Sarah J. age 3 born in Texas
, Robert E. age 3 months, born in Texas
(my deduction is that Robert was born in Refugio County)

1870 US Census, Subdivision 4,Refugio Co. dated 30 Jul 1870
Doughty, J. M. age 47, goods-rancher, born Alabama
, Emily age 42 keeping house, born SC
, Andrew age 20 Clerk born in Miss
, Sarah age 14 in school, born in Texas
, Annie age 9 born in Texas
, Fannie age 6 born in Texas
, Willie, age 3 born in Texas
Rigby, Sam age 20 born in Texas

1870 US Census, Duval County page 14
Fam. 94
Gravis, Frank C. age 33, Stock raiser, born in Texas
, Elizabeth age 29, keeping house
, Robert, age 10 born inTexas
, Mary F. age 8, born in Texas
, Charles K., 4 months, born in Texas
Doyle, Mary A., age 24, born in texas
(earlier census shows Mary Doyle enumerated with Jackson Doyle, probably her father.)

1880 US Census Duval County
Fam 113
Gravis, Frances C. age 42 (1837-1897)
, Elizabeth age 39, (1841-1909)
, Irene D. age 8 (1872-1965)
, James C. age 5 (1878-1965)
, Walter Age 3 (1877-1927)
Doughty, Robert E. age 20, stepson (born 1860)
, Mary age 17, step daughter (born 1863)

There may be a connection between the Doughty and Gravis families, but I don't see how Emily and Elizabeth could be one and the same as they are both enumerated in the 1870 census records. One in Refugio County and the other in Duval County.

Very interesting. Guess Robert chose to leave his home and live with the Gravis family. May Robert E. Doughty rest in peace.
