I chanced across a reply by concerning Ida Poehler, but cannot find it now. This person is buried in the same cemetery (St. Peter Lutheran in Prairie Valley) as many of my ancestors. Her husband, Gerhard Wessels is the brother of Hermann Dietrich Wessels. It was Hermann that donated the land for the church and cemetery. It was Hermann's son Hermann Dietrich Wessels Jr. that married my ancestor Annie Wessels. Although these two groups of Wessels are not related, I do find this extremely coincidental that they should all come from Bremen, Germany and end up in a small place like Prairie Valley. Anyway, I would like to know if you can help me find out more of this other group of Wessels. Can you tell me how Gerhard and Ida's children died? They are also buried at the cemetery. I also have photographs of the death certificates for Ida and Gerhard. Let me know if you would like for me to e-mail them to you.
