I seeking any descendants of a group of immigrants from Lithuania to the Yorktown area starting in 1852. Some of the early families are buried in the Jonischkies Cemetery or Smith Creek Cemetery located on Lee Alves Road. There are some exciting plans for an exhibit in Lithuania to be held in 2009. A meeting is planned for January 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Yorktown Museum and a group from Massachusetts will be there to talk to descendants. Please contact me if you can attend the meeting and have any questions.
The family names associated with this group are:
Kerlick, Gelsus, Lempke, Mosteit, Range, Schulz, Waitschies, Lenkeit, Jutzas, Junker, Thrump, Guddatis, Stanchos, Scholze, Mertins, Praetz, Lundschen, Raguzus, Lobs, Schonn, Jonischkies, Thrump.
