JAMES CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON, AL/TX/OK

I am searching for information on James Christopher Johnson, b.June 9, 1847 in Alabama, d. January 5, 1918 in Ada, OK.

According to info in GIDEON - HISTORY OF INDIAN TERRITORY -1901, James served in the Confederate Navy for 28 months and after the war he returned to Alabama and farmed for four years.

Later he appeared in the 1880 U.S. census in Denton Co., TX along with his wife Martha L., sons Thomas, William, Napoleon, James, Robert and daughter Eugenia. Four years later James moved to the Cherokee Nation without his family.

I would like to learn which town James was born in, who his parents were, and what happened to his first wife and his older children. I am a descendent of his son Robert who followed him to Oklahoma.

According to family lore, his father was named Peter Johnson.
