Saw your note about 1860 census as I was scanning Denton Co. for my own Family.

There are only 2 Richard Allen's listed in Texas in 1860 and neither is in Denton County.

The first is:
Martini or Merline District--Pine Tree Post Office, Upshur Co. Texas line 5 Page 168 house 1138 of 1080
August 2, 1860

Allen, Richard age46 Ga $3000 Carpenter
Martha 45 Ga
Thomas, Nancy 70 Ga
(Harpis?)Jeffrey 45 Ga Carpenter(could be Harris?)

The second is:
Lavaca Co., Halletsville P.O., Texas Line 28 Page 67
house 457 of 457 July 9 1860

Watts, Richard 74 PA $800 $1800 farmer
Permelia 69 NJ housewife
James 50 OH laborer
Sarah 30 IN spinster
Allen, Richard 15 MO farm laborer
Pamelia 14 MO

In the Familysearch webcite is listed:

Richard Allen born 1822 Franklin Co., Georgia
died Cooke Co., Texas
Married Martha Slaton alternate spellings Slatton and Slayton

Hope this is of some benefit to you.
Carol in St. Louis, Missouri
